Proposal to Simplify Lab Accreditation

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Cooperation for Laboratory Accreditation (NACLA) have proposed a partnership for a broadly recognized lab accreditation system.

According to NIST, the United States has about 50,000 testing labs and over 100 lab accreditation programs. Multiple accreditation audits may be required for a testing lab to satisfy government and industry programs.
