Evidence of Transition Planning

Our last newsletter had an article on Requirements in ISO 9001:2000 for Planning. As organizations perform the system-level planning required by clause 5.4.2, they are to maintain the integrity of the system as changes are implemented. Note that the transition to the new ISO 9001:2000 standard is itself a significant change to the system and must be thoroughly planned.

Clause 5.6 (f) requires that management reviews consider changes that could affect the quality management system. Ensure your transition activities are properly planned, reviewed, and recorded since auditors will expect to see evidence of system-level planning. Implementing ISO 9001:2000 will provide an excellent opportunity to demonstrate compliance with the planning requirements.
