Software Supplements Planned for AS9100

The America’s Aerospace Quality Group (AAQG) is working on software supplements for the AS9100 aerospace standard. One supplement will be for “delivered” software and the other supplement for “nondelivered” software.

The reason for this special attention being given to software is that:

  • Software is too often ignored in ISO 9001 audits
  • Software environments and methods are so different
  • AS9100 may be inconsistently applied for software

Suppliers would receive recognition for their software capability through a special annotation on their AS9100 certificate. The draft documents were sent out through the SAE for balloting by the AAQG member companies. The AS9100 software supplements are expected to be issued in October, 2002.
