Rich Barish

Rich BarishRich began his career troubleshooting and improving specific processes as an engineer. After implementing ISO 9001:1987 for Westinghouse Electric, he realized the value and importance of management systems and has led more than 90 plant sites to various management system certifications since 1990.

Rich has over 25 years of quality, environmental, and health and safety management system experience. He has implemented ISO 9001, TS 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 13485, OHSAS 18001, and RC14001 systems with numerous manufacturers, including Austin Energy, Bayer, Daikin, Goodman, MeadWestvaco, Milliken, WR Grace, and many others.

Rich is proficient in the manufacture of films, automotive parts, specialty chemicals and polymers, electronics, circuit boards, wire/cable, laminates, pulp/paper, textile, assembly and continuous line operations, supporting equipment, and supporting services. He has knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plan development, as well as, experience with SPC, SQC, Problem Solving Tools, Six Sigma, LM, and CI. Rich also has knowledge in customer satisfaction measurement and improvement methods.

Rich conducts courses on quality, environmental, and health and safety management systems, as well as, systems integration, TQM, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IIATF 16949, ISO 13485, ISO 45001, RC14001, RCMS, internal auditing, process approach auditing, automotive core tools, quality tools, problem solving, and other related courses. He is qualified to instruct courses for BSI, including Lead Auditor in all of the above.

Rich is a Lead Auditor for several certification bodies and conducts registration and surveillance audits regularly. He is an Exemplar Global certified Lead QMS Auditor, as well as, an Exemplar Global certified Lead EMS Auditor. He is a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and has worked with the American Chemistry Council (ACC).

Rich obtained his Master of Science at Southern Polytechnic State University in Quality Assurance (Quality Systems), and his Bachelor of Science with honors in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Pennsylvania State University. In recent years, he has been a speaker for the American Chemistry Council (National Conference) and a presenter for the American Society for Quality (National Conference).
