Duke Okes

Duke has been a quality professional since 1976, originally working as a quality engineer with TRW Automotive.  Since the mid-80’s, he’s been in private practice providing training and consulting to the government, healthcare, manufacturing, research, and service sectors in North America, Asia, and Europe. He has helped dozens of companies achieve ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949 registration, developed and conducted courses on SPC, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, Risk-Based Thinking, internal audit, process management, metrics, facilitation skills, and train-the-trainer.

He is an ASQ Fellow, is ASQ certified as a manager of quality/organizational excellence, quality engineer, and quality auditor.  He has served as chair of ASQ section 1106 in Northeast TN, where he received the quality leadership award, and also served as vice-chair of technology for ASQ’s Quality Management Division.

Duke holds degrees in technology, education, and business, and has taught courses on statistics and research methods at the college level.  He is the author of three books, Root Cause Analysis: The Core of Problem Solving and Corrective Action; Performance Metrics: The Levers for Process Management; and Musing on Internal Quality Audits: Having a Greater Impact.  Duke is the co-author of The Certified Quality Manager (2nd Edition), and has published dozens of articles on various quality management topics.  He is also a frequent speaker for conferences and professional groups.
